NSFS-160 Editorial notes
Submission of the 21st work. 武藤あやか plays a high‑society wife who continues to hold up the family, while her husband, after a car accident, can only sit in a wheelchair. Their daily routine has not been disrupted, but their physical intimacy has ceased. She hasn't voiced her needs, and the gardener who comes to fix the yard first notices it.
The events then unfold near the home. Those who usually call her “Mrs.”, along with two others, cross that boundary of address. The closer one gets to the familiar house, the harder it is to explain it as an accident from the outside world.
In terms of plot, this piece uses coercion, and I will not romanticize that part. What truly triggered me was the earlier observation: someone, from a very ordinary work relationship, sees the desires she has hidden; and the husband is inside the house, close enough that any breath could be heard.
For me, the husband's presence should not be justified solely by “incapability.” A stronger sense of immersion comes from the fact that all three know what the relationship lacks, and who will fill it next. The gardener’s role is perfect, because his proximity already has a reason, and crossing boundaries feels like something that grew from within everyday life.
